Job Description:
Designs and develops logical and physical layers of various MS SQL databases. Administers procedures and practices regarding data access and upkeep of MS SQL DBMS. Manages and maintains data and data distribution in all production and non-production databases and replication servers. Designs and implements database back up, recovery, archiving, and conversion strategies for physical databases. Manages Capacity Planning; Change Management of database objects; Performance Monitoring and Tuning; SQL Analysis; Security Administration. Participates in Disaster Recovery exercises; QA Stress tests; testing and reporting during hardware/software upgrades. Provides technical assistance and mentoring to staff for developing conceptual and logical database design and physical database. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose problems and recommend solutions. Provide 24 x 7-production support. Other related duties as assigned or required. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline. 5-7 yrs. information technology experience.

Functional Responsibilities: Manages and maintains data in all production and non-production databases and replication servers. Maintains security database; generates reports, queries, and documentation. Manages database elements, including creation, alteration, deletion and copying of schemas, databases, tables, views, indices, stored procedures, triggers, and declarative integrity constraints. Monitors database and replication servers for resource utilization. Handles testing, reporting, backups, and restorations. Manages database distribution, security, and access requirements. Other related duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements
Competency Requirements:
* MS SQL DBA experience with 5 + years of overall experience in a large enterprise environment and able to multi task on several different projects and applications
* Minimum of 5+ years MS SQL Server 2000. Experience with MS SQL 2005 a plus
* Experience with log shipping and replication
* Scripting & Programming experience (TSQL, Perl, WSH or NT Batch)
* Experience with TSM a plus
* Large sized database support
* Maintain reliability and availability of existing MS SQL environments
* Participation in planning and testing Disaster Recovery and Fail-Over exercises
* Effectively prevent outages and quickly troubleshoot problems that may lead to outages
* Communicate clearly and effectively to/with AD Partner and DBA Team
* Backup & Recovery, Log Shipping
* Performance Tuning & Monitoring
* Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose problems and recommend solutions
* Evaluation, Testing, and Coordinated rollout of new versions and patches of MS SQL software
* Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
